Production Supervisor – In Vitro Diagnostic Assays (m/f/d)

Location: Vienna, Austria
Employment type: Permanent
Working hours: 40 hours/week
Employer: ViennaLab Diagnostics GmbH

About the company

BioVendor is an international group of companies focused on in vitro diagnostics.

For more than 30 years, we have believed that high-quality, fast, and reliable diagnostics are the foundation of successful treatment. Laboratory professionals, physicians, and patients are our reason to keep seeking new paths and approaches. The courage to innovate makes us who we are.

The BioVendor Molecular Diagnostic Division's Manufacturing Department is looking for a motivated Production Supervisor to join our small production team in Vienna. In this role, you will act as the single deputy to our Head of Production. You will focus primarily on production planning, tracking, and documentation within our ERP system, while progressively taking on greater responsibility for production coordination. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career candidate with a technical or scientific background and strong growth potential — you will receive structured onboarding and close, hands-on support from our Head of Production, who brings many years of experience with the company, and from colleagues in QM and Manufacturing Engineering who themselves previously worked in Manufacturing.

What you will be working on:

Working closely with the Head of Production, you will plan, track, and document manufacturing activities across our IVD product portfolio, ensuring accurate and reliable data in our ERP system. Over time, and with growing independence, you will take on increasing responsibility for coordinating production activities and supporting the production team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production planning and oversight, performing 4eye principle checks, and tracking and documenting in the ERP system, including maintenance of production-relevant master data
  • Preparation and maintenance of manufacturing protocols, work instructions, and SOPs
  • Hands-on preparation of production lines and their equipment, plus a limited amount of operational hands-on work
  • Support resource planning of production, incl. purchasing
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements under ISO 13485 and IVDR
  • Monitor and report on process KPIs
  • Support the documentation and follow-up of deviations in production (CAPA)
  • Coordinate with QC/QA and R&D on production-related topics
  • Deputize for the Head of Production, including day-to-day coordination of production activities and supporting the leadership of the production team as needed
  • Report to the Head of Production

What is important to us:

Required qualifications:

  • Technical or life-science degree (e.g., Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Process Engineering, Food Technology, or a related field); recent graduates are welcome to apply
  • Practical exposure to a laboratory (e.g., assay development laboratory), production, or manufacturing environment
  • Strong organizational skills and a structured, detail-oriented way of working
  • Affinity for working with ERP/IT systems and MS Office
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership from an early stage, combined with a proactive, quick-learning mindset
  • Confident, respectful communication style, comfortable engaging with experienced, long-tenured colleagues
  • Language skills: German and English level C1

Preferred experience:

  • At least one year of practical experience in a regulated industry or production environment (e.g., medical devices, pharma, food, or similar under ISO 13485, GMP, or comparable standards)
  • Hands-on experience in a production or manufacturing setting, beyond academic lab work
  • First exposure to ERP or MES systems
  • Already holding, or interested in obtaining in the future, ISO 13485, manufacturing, and QM-related certifications
