LAMP (Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification) is a highly sensitive, reliable, fast and efficient method of nucleic acid amplification and detection. Kits based on the LAMP principle can be applied directly to the primary sample, swab in a suitable medium, and thus reduce handling steps. Results are available within 30-40 minutes.
Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) technology offers a wide range of applications from pathogen detection to single nucleotide polymorphism determination. The target sequence is amplified without thermocycling with using a set of loop primers, a fluorescently labeled probe and an isothermal polymerase which, in addition to replication activity, is the ability to dissociate and shift the strand. The presence of loop primers increases the rate and dynamics of the reaction, and therefore the amount of nucleic acid generated by LAMP is higher than number of nucleic acid copies generated by conventional polymerase chain reaction. This characteristic significantly accelerates the detection of the target sequence.
